The Calculated Chemist is a science-inspired drinkware and gifting brand founded in 2021 by Tanner Gerschick, an organic and materials chemist based in Buford, Georgia. The brand was built against disposable science merchandise — catalogue goods with a molecule printed on the side — and treats scientific objects with the attention normally given to material, proportion and daily usefulness.

THE FOUNDER
Tanner Gerschick specialised in organic synthesis and specialty-polymer research before founding the brand. Years working in fashion beforehand were an early lesson in adaptability, and in how objects are seen and used.
THE INVENTORSHIP RECORD
Named inventor on five published patent applications arising from industrial polymer and materials research, including three as first-named inventor. The applications are the property of his former employer, Solvay Specialty Polymers USA (now Syensqo) — not of The Calculated Chemist.
THE PRODUCT'S OWN RIGHTS
The Flask Vessel is covered by U.S. Design Patent D1,124,879 and, in China, by Design Patent ZL 2025 3 0732014.1. Both are granted and belong to the product.
