Who is The Calculated Chemist?
The Calculated Chemist is a premium, science-inspired drinkware and gifting brand founded in 2021 by Tanner Gerschick, an organic and materials chemist based in Buford, Georgia. The brand was built against disposable science merchandise — generic catalog goods with a molecule printed on the side — and instead treats scientific objects with the same attention given to material, proportion, and daily usefulness. The goal isn’t to make science-themed products; it’s to make better objects for people and organizations shaped by science.
The founder
Tanner Gerschick came to product design from an unconventional path: years working in fashion across several cities before turning that eye for proportion and form toward science. In the lab he specialized in organic synthesis and specialty-polymer research at a leading materials-science company, where he is named on several patents — including as first inventor on a high-melting-temperature polymer that is both melt-processable and water-soluble. What we make
Our flagship is the Flask Vessel — a 500 mL double-wall, vacuum-insulated 304 stainless steel water bottle drawn from the Erlenmeyer flask silhouette, finished in matte powder coat and marked with permanent laser-engraved calibration graphics.
