The Science Gift Guide

Gifts for people shaped by science. Every object here is chosen the same way: useful enough for every day, made well enough to keep, and scientific in its form rather than its printing.

SECTION 05 · ENGRAVING

Make the object theirs.

Engraving is cut through the powder coat with a fiber laser, not printed on top of it, so it wears at the same rate as the finish. Add a name to the Flask Vessel at checkout for $10, in one of five lettering styles.

  • A first name
  • Initials
  • A graduation year
  • Credentials — PhD, RN, PharmD
  • A short date, or a formula that means something

Engraved objects are made to order and are final sale. Logo decoration for a company, lab or department is a separate program — see Buying for a team.

SECTION 07 · NOT SURE WHICH OBJECT

When you know the person, not the color.

A gift card is issued the moment the order clears and arrives by email, so the recipient chooses the object, the finish and the engraving themselves. It spends against the whole catalog and does not expire.

SEASONAL INDEX

Holiday gifts for scientists

Engraved pieces take longer to make in November and December, and the strongest finishes sell through first. If a name is going on it, order early.

Buying for a team?

SECTION 10 · POSITION

What makes a good science gift?

Most science merchandise starts with a generic product and adds a molecule to it. We start with the scientific object — its form, its material, its function — and build something durable enough to be kept. Three tests decide whether a gift survives the first month.

  1. It has to be useful.

A gift that is not used is not kept. The test is whether they reach for it on an ordinary Tuesday, or whether it ends up in the drawer with the conference tote bags.

  2. It has to be made well enough to keep.

Materials decide how long a gift lasts. 304 stainless steel, double-wall vacuum insulation and a powder coat that takes wear are what separate an object from a giveaway.

  3. The science belongs in the object, not printed on it.

A flask silhouette rebuilt in steel reads as scientific because of its form. A molecule printed on a plain mug reads as a joke about someone's job. One gets used for years; the other gets used until the print cracks.

SECTION 11 · QUESTIONS

Before you order.

Can these be personalized?

Yes. The Flask Vessel can be laser-engraved with a name at checkout for $10, in one of five lettering styles. The engraving is cut through the powder coat rather than printed on top, so it does not wear off. Engraved items are made to order and are final sale.

What is the best gift for a scientist who already has everything?

Something they will use daily and would not buy for themselves. The Flask Vessel is usually the answer: a recognizable laboratory form in 304 stainless steel, insulated, and engravable with their name.

Can I send a gift straight to the recipient?

Yes. Enter their address as the shipping address at checkout. A digital gift card goes further: it is emailed directly to the recipient, so nothing has to be shipped at all.

Do you offer digital gift cards?

Yes, from $50 to $200. The card is issued as soon as the order clears and arrives by email. It spends against the whole catalog and does not expire.

How quickly do orders ship?

In-stock orders ship from Georgia within one to two business days. Engraved orders are made to order and take longer, which matters most in November and December.

Can an organization order gifts in bulk?

Yes. Volume pricing is published from 25 units, with one engraved logo included at every tier. See bulk orders and volume pricing, or request a quote — quotes are returned within one business day.

What if something arrives damaged?

Report it within three days of delivery with your order number and photographs of the item and the packaging, and we will refund or replace it. You will not need to ship it back. Full terms are in Returns, Damage & Defects.
