Advertised on the product description as having a volume capacity of 500mL, I decided to keep track of the amount of fluid I’m consuming based on the number of flasks I am emptying. After 4 weeks of this routine, my curiosity lead to me verifying whether the flasks genuinely held 500mL. Unfortunately, my tests have disproved the tumbler’s capacity.
Using tap water (with a density of approximately 1g/mL) , a digital weight scale, and a water bottle with a fixed volume capacity of 500mL, my hypothesis was that the flask tumbler should have been able to hold the same volume as the water bottle.
The results were that even with filling the tumbler to the rim (past its maximum capacity), the flask did not hold 500mL. The true usage capacity would be roughly 440mL.
On a different note, the insulated tumbler is quite an elegant product. The matte finish on the flask adds to the sophistication and it is able to keep beverages hot or cold for a long duration of time. Regrettably, it’s not able to hold 500mL despite it being modelled after a 500mL Erlenmeyer flask. Additionally, I do wish that the carrying strap was more secure and more integrated into the design of the flask.
